SEC Prepares for Rulemaking as Clarity Act Faces Congressional Hurdles
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins expressed confidence that lawmakers will approve the Clarity Act, which aims to create a regulatory framework for the U.S. crypto market.
During a CNBC appearance, Atkins stated that the SEC is assisting Congress in its consideration of the bill by responding to congressional questions and providing technical guidance on the proposed legislation.
The SEC is prepared to move forward with rulemaking if the Clarity Act stalls, but Atkins emphasized that regulatory certainty for the U.S. digital asset market ultimately requires a statutory framework provided by Congress.
