SEC Prepares Major Cryptocurrency Regulatory Plans Amid Clarity Act Delay
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is taking steps to establish clearer regulations for the digital asset market.
Ahead of a crucial vote on the CLARITY Act, which has been delayed until at least September, the SEC plans to announce significant cryptocurrency regulatory plans in an open meeting set for August 14, 2026.
The agency will consider proposing new rules that would create a specific regulatory framework for certain crypto assets under investment contracts.
This move comes as the Senate process for the CLARITY Act slows down due to disagreements between Republicans and Democrats on issues such as ethics guidelines, anti-money laundering provisions, and stablecoin returns.
