SEC Prepares New Rules for Cryptocurrencies Amid Stalled Clarity Act
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to discuss new rules for the cryptocurrency market, despite the lack of clarity on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
The SEC's official agenda lists a meeting scheduled for Friday, which will be open to the public. The discussion may address regulatory measures for the sector, while the U.S. Congress has not yet completed approval of the Clarity Act.
Last week, the Senate failed to approve the proposal, increasing the possibility that the SEC may adopt measures within its authority. Chair Paul Atkins had previously indicated that the agency could introduce rules for digital assets if the Senate did not move forward with the Clarity Act.
