SEC Proposes New Crypto Rules Amid Bear Market Uncertainty
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed new rules for crypto assets in an effort to provide clarity for the market. The new provisions, outlined in a document called 'Regulation Crypto Assets,' aim to provide clear pathways for crypto projects to raise capital under federal securities laws.
In a statement, SEC head Paul Atkins said, 'As we continue the Commission's efforts to provide clarity for crypto markets, and as Congress works to establish a lasting regulatory framework, Regulation Crypto Assets seeks to provide crypto asset entrepreneurs and market participants with clear pathways to raise capital under the federal securities laws.'
The new rules will be open to public comment for 60 days. Solana (SOL), meanwhile, has seen its on-chain metrics decline significantly during the bear market.
