SEC Scraps Meeting on Digital-Asset Regulation
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) canceled a public meeting that was scheduled to discuss a new regulatory proposal for digital assets.
The meeting, which had been planned for August 14, included discussion of a separate securities issuance framework for investment contracts tied to certain digital assets.
According to Reuters, the SEC postponed the meeting due to 'unexpected scheduling issues' and did not provide a new date for rescheduling.
Last month, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins stated that the agency was prepared to craft its own digital-asset rules if the Senate does not pass the Clarity Act.
