SEC Set to Approve Crypto Fundraising Rules with $75M Cap
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will vote on Friday to approve proposed crypto fundraising rules that could give some token projects a tailored route to raise capital without full securities registration.
If approved, the proposal would open for public comment when released, but it would not grant issuers an exemption they could use immediately.
The open meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET on August 14 and could translate parts of a framework presented by SEC Chair Paul Atkins in March into a formal Commission proposal.
The proposed rules address capital raising, with two exemptions that would allow startups to raise up to $75 million in any 12-month period or $5 million over four years, respectively.
