SEC Threatens to Write Own Crypto Rules if Clarity Bill Fails
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is ready to establish its own regulatory framework for digital assets if Congress fails to pass the CLARITY Act.
The bill, which aims to provide clarity on crypto regulations, has been discussed in the Senate but still lacks a final agreement due to disagreements over ethics provisions.
Paul Atkins, Chairman of the SEC, expressed support for the regulatory framework and stated that he is committed to supporting Congress in advancing the CLARITY Act.
The SEC could move forward with writing rules for the digital asset market if lawmakers do not advance the CLARITY Act before the August recess.
