SEC Tokenisation Delay Hits Stocks as Momentum Remains Intact
Tokenisation-related stocks took a hit after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delayed its planned exemption for tokenised securities.
The delay led to falls in several stocks, including Bullish, which dropped around 8%, Figure, down by about 9%, Coinbase, which declined 2%, and Circle, falling nearly 4%.
Clear Street managing director Owen Lau said the regulatory setback could make it harder for companies to offer trading in tokenised securities, potentially extending the adoption timeline.
Lau added that despite the delay, the underlying momentum for tokenisation remains intact.
