SEC Unveils New Crypto Rules Amid Industry Optimism
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has introduced new rules for cryptocurrencies, which could bring an end to token legal uncertainty in the United States.
Galaxy says that these new regulations will provide clarity on what constitutes a security and what does not, allowing businesses to operate with more confidence.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, predicts that the regulatory framework will be clear by September 15 and 16, 2026. He notes that this will have a significant impact on the industry as it 'will make it easier for people to buy and sell tokens without worrying about whether they're going to get shut down by regulators'.
Meanwhile, Securitize's president, Brett Redfearn, revealed that the SEC deliberately delayed an innovation exemption for tokenized securities. This move is seen as a deliberate attempt to avoid complicating the Clarity Act vote efforts.
