SecondFi Urges Hacker to Return Stolen Cardano Tokens

SecondFi, the Cardano-focused cryptocurrency wallet, has issued an appeal to the hacker who breached their platform in June. The company's team is urging the perpetrator to return the stolen funds through a voluntary return, which they consider the 'cleanest and most direct path' towards resolving the situation.

In June, 374 digital wallets were compromised on SecondFi, formerly known as Yoroi Wallet by EMURGO, resulting in the theft of 16.1 million Cardano tokens (ADA), worth approximately $2.4 million to $2.6 million at the time of the theft.

The project's technical team responded quickly and secured another 129 million ADA that had been at risk, transferring them to an independent custodian for safekeeping. However, due to the severe financial and reputational consequences of the breach, EMURGO's management made the difficult decision to wind down and liquidate the SecondFi and Yoroi brands.
