Securitize Expands BlackRock's BUIDL Collateral Use Across Crypto Prime Brokerages
Securitize has expanded its support for BlackRock's BUIDL fund to be used as collateral across multiple crypto prime brokerages. This development allows qualified institutional traders to post BUIDL token shares as off-exchange collateral, making the product more useful in trading infrastructure.
The expansion of BUIDL's collateral use is significant because it enables tokenized funds to support trading activity beyond just sitting in a wallet. By allowing institutions to use tokenized fund shares as collateral, Securitize is moving closer to its goal of integrating tokenized Treasuries into market plumbing.
BUIDL is not a retail-access tokenized fund and participation is restricted to qualified institutional users. The product represents a bridge between traditional asset management and blockchain settlement, allowing institutions to hold regulated money-market-style products on-chain for more efficient use.
