Securitize Expands BlackRock's BUIDL Collateral Use Across Crypto Prime Brokers
Securitize has expanded its support for BlackRock's BUIDL fund to include collateral use across participating crypto prime brokerages. This move enables qualified institutional traders to post BUIDL token shares as off-exchange collateral, allowing them to hold tokenized Treasury exposure while supporting trading activity.
The expansion of collateral support is significant because it brings tokenized Treasuries one step closer to becoming a functional part of the trading infrastructure. Tokenized assets can only reach their full potential when they can be used for margin, lending, or trading activities.
Securitize's move shows that institutional tokenization is not just about holding passive investments but also about providing better settlement and collateral tools for approved participants. The access limits are clear: BUIDL is not a retail product, and participation is restricted to qualified institutional users only.
