Securitize Makes History with NYSE Listing and Tokenized Share Launch
Securitize, a tokenization firm backed by BlackRock and ARK Invest, made history on July 2 when it listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker SECZ. The company simultaneously tokenized $295 million of its own shares on Solana and Avalanche through its regulated tokenization platform.
The listing marked a significant milestone for Securitize, which has been building tokenization infrastructure for firms like BlackRock since 2017. According to blockchain data from RWA(dot)xyz, investors held approximately $295 million in tokenized SECZ shares at launch. The company claims that its approach differs from most existing tokenized stock products, as the tokens represent the same common stock trading on the NYSE rather than a separate class of securities.
Securitize President Brett Redfearn said that the combination of a registered transfer agent and a broker-dealer under one roof sets the firm apart from competitors. The company operates a vertically integrated stack of regulated financial infrastructure, including its own transfer agent, broker-dealer, fund services business, and an alternative trading system (ATS).
