SECZ Approves Seven Fintech Projects for Zimbabwe's Regulatory Sandbox
Zimbabwe's Securities and Exchange Commission (SECZ) has approved seven fintech projects to participate in its regulatory sandbox, with four of them focused on tokenization. The sandbox allows live testing under SECZ supervision, but it does not guarantee commercial registration after successful testing.
The approved projects include blockchain fundraising, crowdfunding, synthetic trading, and asset tokenization, among others. Tokenization accounts for four of the seven projects, with Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange testing a blockchain-based capital-raising platform.
The SECZ's Regulatory Sandbox Guidelines allow licensed securities intermediaries to apply for participation. Eligible categories include crowdfunding, alternative investment platforms, and other products accepted by the commission.
