Senate Bill Could Turbocharge Trump Family's Crypto Corruption
The U.S. Senate is poised to vote on the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at regulating the cryptocurrency sector.
However, critics argue that the bill would not effectively restrain the Trump family's crypto dealings and could even enable them.
Mark Hays, associate director for Cryptocurrency and Financial Technology, warned that the bill 'would fail to rein in the most obvious examples of Trump's self-enrichment from crypto ventures, and, with passage, could supercharge it.'
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) echoed these concerns on the Senate floor, calling the included ethics provisions a 'fig leaf' that would do nothing to stop Trump's profiteering.
