Senate Confirms CLARITY Act Vote Next Week Amid Crypto Regulatory Uncertainty

Share

Senator Cynthia Lummis has confirmed that the U.S. Senate will vote on the CLARITY Act next week before its August recess. Despite a packed legislative calendar, Senate leadership is still committed to bringing the crypto market structure bill to the floor.

Lummis noted that lawmakers have 'one more week here in Washington' and several key issues competing for attention, including multiple nominations, a continuing resolution discussion, and votes on Iran and Ukraine-Russia sanctions. However, Senate Majority Leader John Thune has kept the CLARITY Act on the agenda, and Lummis believes he intends to proceed with it.

The timing of the vote is still uncertain, but Lummis stated that 'we will be proceeding' in the next few days. This development comes as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called for an immediate vote, urging lawmakers to 'get it done NOW.' Bessent emphasized the importance of passing the bill, citing concerns about the U.S. being left behind in the global digital assets race.
