Senate Crypto Bill Clears Committee Hurdle Amid Bipartisan Support
Chris Land, staff director for the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets, has been instrumental in shaping the landmark crypto regulatory framework in Washington. His expertise in digital assets began with his work in Wyoming in 2017 and 2018, where he contributed to drafting early state-level statutes that positioned Wyoming as a regulatory laboratory.
Land's path to becoming a key player in crypto regulation led him to Senator Cynthia Lummis' team in 2021. After the establishment of the Senate Banking Committee's Digital Assets Subcommittee in January 2025, he took on the role of staff director.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which Land is quarterbacking, aims to draw clear jurisdictional lines between the SEC and CFTC on crypto oversight. The bill has attracted support from prominent backers like BlackRock, Fidelity, and Goldman Sachs, with some operating spot Bitcoin ETFs that have attracted tens of billions in assets.
