Senate Crypto Regulation Bill Hits Stalemate Ahead of Recess

Share

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a key cryptocurrency regulation bill, remains stalled in the U.S. Senate as August recess approaches.

The bill cleared the House in July 2025 with bipartisan support and advanced through the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026 but has yet to receive a full Senate floor vote due to procedural hurdles and political disagreements.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune indicated that the bill will not reach the floor before the summer recess, citing prioritization of other legislative matters.

Rob Nichols, CEO of the American Bankers Association, acknowledged the bill's positive elements but expressed concerns about stablecoin-related provisions, advocating for stricter restrictions on yield products to address banking industry worries.
