Senate Delay of CLARITY Act Sparks DeFi Uncertainty
The US Senate has delayed the CLARITY Act until September, causing uncertainty for decentralized finance (DeFi) players.
According to a recent analysis by 1inch, this delay could impact developers and non-custodial protocols that rely on the bill's regulations.
In an X post, Maylea Ma, Senior Legal Counsel of 1inch, highlighted key aspects of the bill that would affect these entities, such as regulatory controls for software development and self-custody.
While Ma acknowledged that the CLARITY Act is not perfect, she emphasized that retaining a clear boundary between developers and intermediaries is crucial to protect non-custodial code from obligations applicable to companies holding clients' assets.
