Senate Delays CLARITY Act Vote, Pushes Back to September
The US Senate has pushed back its vote on the CLARITY Act to September after failing to resolve disagreements over major provisions. The bill, which aims to clarify market structure and regulation for digital assets, had been expected to pass before the summer recess.
The Senate Majority Leader, John Thune, confirmed that the vote will be held in September, assuring that Congress would prioritize the crypto bill upon its return. However, the delay comes amid growing speculation that the Senate would extend its current session into next week to work on the bill.
Industry leaders remain hopeful that the bill will become law when it is taken up again. Cody Carbone, CEO of the Digital Chamber, stated that his efforts to pass the bill are far from over, while Ji Hun Kim, CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), described the delay as disappointing.
