Senate Delays Crypto Clarity Act Vote Until September Amid Ethics Provision Dispute
The U.S. Senate has delayed its vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act until September, citing concerns over an ethics provision targeting President Trump.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed the decision before the chamber left for its August recess, with the bill now set to be a top priority when senators return to Washington on September 14.
The Clarity Act aims to create a federal framework for digital asset markets and clarify how oversight is split between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Crypto industry groups called the delay 'disappointing' but said they would continue working to find common ground before September.
