Senate Delays Threaten US Crypto Leadership, Say Haridopolos and Industry Leaders
Florida Congressman Mike Haridopolos is urging the Senate to pass the Clarity Act, warning that continued delays could weaken the United States' position in the global digital asset industry.
The bill, which cleared the House in July 2025 with a strong bipartisan vote of 294-134, aims to establish clear regulatory responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for digital assets.
Supporters believe the measure would strengthen investor protection, encourage innovation, and create a more predictable legal framework for cryptocurrency businesses.
However, the legislative timeline has tightened after the Senate postponed consideration of the Clarity Act on July 28 to prioritize 74 Trump administration nominations and the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act of 2026.
Industry support remains strong, with major financial institutions and crypto firms such as Charles Schwab, Coinbase, Ripple, BlackRock, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, and the Digital Chamber backing the Clarity Act.
