Senate Delays Vote on CLARITY Act Until September

Share

The US Senate has delayed its vote on the CLARITY Act until September. The bill, one of the most closely watched pieces of crypto legislation in 2026, aims to regulate digital asset markets at the federal level.

The delay is due to unresolved issues surrounding stablecoin rewards, government ethics rules, and illicit-finance safeguards. Senators were still negotiating these parts of the bill when they left Washington for their August recess.

The next major step in the process will be on September 15, when senators are expected to consider cloture on the motion to proceed with H.R. 3633. This vote is a crucial test of whether the Senate has enough support to move forward with the bill.
