Senate Dems Reject Revised Crypto Bill Over Ethics Concerns

Senate Democrats are pushing back against the revised draft of the Clarity Act (H.R. 3633;BGOV Bill Analysis), a bill aimed at regulating cryptocurrency. The Senate is scheduled to take a procedural vote on the bill on Tuesday, September 15.

The latest version of the bill includes new ethics language that was requested by Democrats. However, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) stated that the changes do not go far enough and that Democrats have a counteroffer for the GOP.

Warner's comments reflect the ongoing disagreements between Senate Republicans and Democrats on how to regulate cryptocurrency. Despite more than a year of bipartisan talks and 126 changes requested by Democrats, some concerns still remain unaddressed.
