Senate Faces Critical Vote on Clarity Act Amid Crypto Regulatory Uncertainty
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has expressed his support for the Clarity Act, which would create a comprehensive federal framework for regulating the U.S. cryptocurrency industry.
The legislation has drawn opposition from the National Sheriffs' Association over concerns about decentralized finance and anti-money laundering rules.
Armstrong called on lawmakers to establish clear rules for digital assets, arguing that this would protect consumers, provide law enforcement with additional tools, and encourage crypto businesses to operate within the United States.
The Blockchain Association has also disputed claims that the Clarity Act weakens anti-money laundering enforcement, stating that the bill places 'rigorous obligations' on crypto intermediaries while giving authorities tools to investigate financial crimes.
