Senate Faces Crucial Deadline to Pass Crypto Clarity Act Before Recess
The Senate's chances of passing the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before its summer recess have been complicated by Monday's schedule, which did not include a vote on the landmark crypto bill.
According to Wu Blockchain, an ordinary cloture motion could be filed on Wednesday, August 5, allowing for a vote on the following Friday, August 7. However, this would only be the first step in the process, as Rule XXII allows up to 30 hours of post-cloture debate before a final vote.
The bill's passage is not without controversy, with seven Democrats on the negotiating team expressing concerns over ethics and consumer protections. Senator Elizabeth Warren has called the draft unacceptable, arguing that its language does not go far enough to address President Donald Trump's crypto stake.
