Senate Faces Deadline as Grayscale and Bessent Push for CLARITY Act Vote
Grayscale Investments is urging the Senate to vote on the CLARITY Act before the August recess. The bill would divide digital asset oversight between the SEC and CFTC, addressing a key point of contention in the crypto market structure.
The company's request comes as lawmakers face mounting pressure to resolve disputes holding up the legislation. According to Grayscale, hundreds of thousands of Americans hold its digital asset investment products, giving it a direct interest in clearer federal rules.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has also called for an immediate vote on the bill, accusing Senate Democrats of delaying the measure under pressure from crypto critics like Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
The CLARITY Act has already passed the House with a 294-134 vote in July 2025, but negotiations continue over ethics provisions covering digital asset activities involving federal officials.
