Senate Proposes Framework to Regulate Digital Assets
A comprehensive framework for regulating digital assets is being proposed in a Senate-amended version of H.R. 3633.
The bill would define most crypto assets as digital commodities and designate the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as the primary regulator.
The CFTC would oversee digital commodity spot markets, including trades involving the largest cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether.
The Senate amendment is slated for a procedural vote on September 15th.
