Senate Puts Crypto Clarity Act on Hold Amid Priorities
The U.S. Senate has put off consideration of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act until it can focus on other pressing issues, including a Russia sanctions bill and federal nominations.
With only a few days left before its August recess, the crypto legislation now faces an uncertain future. A vote is unlikely before next week at the earliest, and if it misses this window, the next chance may not come until September or 2027.
The main holdups have been disagreements over stablecoin yield rules and ethics provisions banning senior government officials from backing crypto projects. While Trump agreed to accept language limiting his involvement in digital assets last week, Democrats quickly said the restrictions did not go far enough.
