Senate Republicans Release Revised CLARITY Act Draft Ahead of Vote
A revised draft of the CLARITY Act has been released by Senate Republicans ahead of its scheduled vote on September 15. The new version addresses key obstacles, including ethics enforcement for federal officials' crypto interests and stablecoin rewards.
The bill's sponsors claim that the latest draft includes 126 substantive changes requested by Democrats during negotiations. This revised package aims to show senators what they would be voting to debate, rather than advancing a bill with unresolved provisions.
The ethics clause gives states a role in enforcing prohibitions involving covered individuals who issue or sponsor digital assets, or maintain significant financial interests in them. Covered officials must divest their interests or place them in a qualified blind trust consistent with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
