Senate Republicans Revise Clarity Act with Trump-Backed Ethics Rules

Share

US Senate Republicans have revised their Clarity Act cryptocurrency legislation to include new ethics language, which has been endorsed by President Donald Trump.

The updated text of the bill includes conflict-of-interest rules put forward by Republican Senator Thom Tillis and Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego.

Tillis and Gallego's ethics negotiations took several months, with Gallego warning in August that rushing the bill to a vote before a deal was finalised could derail the process altogether.

The sticking point was concerns over Trump's expanding crypto-related business interests, including a memecoin launched before his inauguration and his family's involvement in World Liberty Financial.
