Senate Set to Decide Fate of CLARITY Act Crypto Bill by September 15
The CLARITY Act, a piece of crypto market structure legislation, is set to face its next major test on September 15 as the Senate returns from recess. White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt has framed this date as a decisive deadline for congressional negotiations over the bill.
The Senate's cloture vote will determine whether lawmakers can move towards debate on H.R. 3633, which would establish a framework for determining whether digital assets fall under SEC or CFTC oversight.
A successful cloture vote requires at least eight Democratic votes to reach the Senate's 60-vote threshold. Despite this requirement, Republican leaders still intend to test whether a 60-vote coalition can be assembled once senators return to Washington.
