Senate Set to Take Up CLARITY Act on September 15
The U.S. Senate is set to take up the CLARITY Act on September 15, a move that could bring comprehensive regulatory clarity to the digital assets industry. The bill aims to establish a framework for digital assets, and its passage would be a major milestone for cryptocurrency holders.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on the CLARITY Act before the Senate left for recess, securing floor time when lawmakers return in September. Senator Cynthia Lummis confirmed the date and time publicly at the SALT Conference in Jackson Hole, stating 'You have to force them to vote to get them to be serious about it.'
The vote on cloture is not a final vote on the bill itself but rather a procedural mechanism that ends debate in the Senate. The bill needs 60 votes to clear the cloture threshold, with all 53 Senate Republicans committed to voting yes.
