Senate Set to Vote on CLARITY Act: What It Means for XRP
The U.S. Senate is scheduled to hold its first major floor test of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act on September 15, 2026, a development that has XRP investors paying close attention. The bill aims to establish clearer federal rules for cryptocurrencies and draw boundaries between the SEC and CFTC in digital-asset markets.
The vote will not classify XRP or immediately change its legal status, but it would allow the Senate process to continue. A successful cloture vote requires 60 votes, and if it clears that hurdle, the CLARITY Act still faces debate, amendments, and further votes before it could become law.
For XRP, regulatory certainty has particular significance after years of litigation and debate over how the asset should be classified. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has described the legislation as an important remaining step toward broader institutional adoption.
Institutional demand for XRP is already building, with U.S. spot XRP ETFs attracting $110.49 million during the week ending August 28, their strongest weekly inflow of 2026. Total cumulative inflows climbed to roughly $1.66 billion, even as XRP's spot price slipped back toward $1.38.
