Senate Set to Vote on Digital Asset Market Clarity Act
The US Senate will vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act on September 15, marking its first time taking a floor vote on comprehensive crypto market structure legislation. The bill aims to draw clear jurisdictional lines between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets.
The House passed its version of the bill in July 2025 with a bipartisan vote of 294-134. The Senate Banking Committee then advanced the bill by a 15-9 vote in May 2026, incorporating input from both committees to create a roughly 616-page merged text released in early September 2026.
The bill addresses decentralized finance protocols, stablecoin reward structures, and customer protection requirements for exchanges and intermediaries. Democrats have pushed for stronger ethics provisions, particularly around public officials' involvement with digital assets.
