Senate Set to Vote on Landmark Clarity Act Cryptocurrency Bill
The U.S. Senate is set to vote on the Clarity Act, a landmark cryptocurrency bill that could reshape how digital assets are regulated in America.
The final draft text of the bill was released by Senate Republicans ahead of Tuesday's procedural vote, which requires 60 Senate votes to advance.
The bill includes new ethics language covering federally elected officials, judges, and their spouses, as well as provisions that give the Treasury Secretary new authority to prevent deposit flight tied to payment stablecoins.
Crypto stocks responded quickly to the news, with Coinbase jumping over 7% and Circle Internet gaining over 4% in Monday morning trading. Bitcoin rose 1.66% to $78,113 while Ethereum gained 0.88% to $2,499.
