Senate Shelves Crypto Clarity Act as Russia Sanctions Take Priority
The US Senate has temporarily put off the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act as it prioritizes other bills, including Russian sanctions and federal nominations. Majority Leader John Thune's office had indicated that his next priority would be Russia legislation.
The Clarity Act, a major policy effort for the crypto industry, is still awaiting a vote due to ongoing disagreements over its provisions, particularly those related to government ethics and senior officials backing crypto projects.
With every hour of floor time being precious, it's unlikely that the bill will be voted on before next week, when the Senate breaks for summer. If it doesn't become law this year, it could lead to uncertainty over US regulations for the industry.
