Seoul Homebuyers' Crypto and Stock Sales Funding Skyrockets
The use of proceeds from stock, bond and crypto sales to fund home purchases in Seoul has surged significantly over the past four years.
A recent analysis by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport found that these types of sales accounted for 7.6% of home purchase funds among individual buyers in Seoul from January through May.
This represents a more than twofold increase from the 2.9% recorded in 2021, marking a sharp rise in the use of non-traditional funding methods for homebuyers in the city.
Seoul had the highest share among South Korea's 17 cities and provinces for the use of proceeds from stock, bond and crypto sales to fund home purchases.
