The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has launched Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures for U.S. institutions after receiving CFTC approval under Regulation 48.10.

According to KC Lam, SGX Group's head of crypto derivatives, the authorization connects U.S. traditional finance participants with Asian liquidity pools.

The contracts have recorded about $5.8 billion in cumulative volume, with Bitcoin representing 83% of average daily volume and 66% of open interest at August's end.

In contrast to many crypto-native venues, SGX uses margin calls and additional collateral instead of automatic liquidation during sharp market moves.
