SGX Secures CFTC Approval for Bitcoin and Ether Futures Contracts in US
The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has received authorization to offer Bitcoin and Ether perpetual futures contracts to US institutional investors, marking an important milestone in the expansion of crypto derivatives.
This move comes after CFTC approval under Regulation 48.10 framework, which allows eligible foreign exchanges to open their existing trading systems to US institutional participants without requiring a full exchange registration in the US.
KC Lam, Head of Crypto Derivatives at SGX, noted that this development will connect traditional financial institutions in the US with liquidity pools in Asia.
SGX's crypto futures products have seen significant trading volume since their inception, with a cumulative trading volume of approximately 400,000 lots and $5.8 billion since November 2025.
