SGX has received authorization from the CFTC to offer its Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures to US institutions through Regulation 48.10, a framework that allows foreign exchanges to provide direct access to their trading systems without registering as a domestic exchange.

This means that US participants can now trade SGX's Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetuals, which have already recorded $5.8 billion in cumulative volume since their launch in November 2025. The contracts are cash-settled in US dollars and restricted to accredited, professional, and institutional investors.

SGX head of crypto derivatives KC Lam stated that the exchange is actively preparing its US clearing members to onboard clients over the next month or two, following completion of its back-office integration. Trading has not begun yet, but the authorization marks a significant step in expanding institutional access to cryptocurrency derivatives.
