SGX Seeks CFTC Approval for Crypto Perps
Singapore Exchange (SGX) has filed with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to offer its cryptocurrency perpetual futures to US institutions.
This move aims to expand SGX's trading capabilities in the crypto space, where it currently lags behind leading platforms.
Perpetual futures allow traders to speculate on asset prices without an expiration date. Currently, crypto platforms dominate perps trading, with turnover reaching around $80-$100 billion a month.
SGX's proposed offering would provide US investors with access to Bitcoin and Ether perpetual futures, which launched in November last month.
