SharpLink Suffers $394M Loss as Ethereum Prices Plummet
SharpLink reported a significant loss in its second quarter earnings due to unrealized losses and write-downs on its Ethereum holdings. The company posted a net loss of $394.3 million, driven mainly by $397.1 million in write-downs and losses from falling ETH prices.
The revenue for the quarter grew significantly to $11.5 million, mostly coming from ETH staking activities. SharpLink held nearly 887,000 ETH and equivalents valued at about $1.4 billion but saw its total assets and equity decline due to lower crypto valuations.
Despite the loss, the company raised $75 million through a share offering to buy more ETH and repurchased shares to manage ETH per share. This move signals continued confidence in SharpLink's ETH treasury strategy.
