Sharplink Warns EIP-8363 Could Weaken Ethereum Staking Yields
Sharplink has spoken out against Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 8363, citing potential risks to Ethereum's staking yields and decentralized finance sector. The company warned that if implemented, EIP-8363 could lead to reduced returns for validators, making it less attractive for institutional investors.
According to Sharplink, the current staking yield serves as a base rate for on-chain markets after accounting for costs and inflation. The firm argued that low interest rates can increase the cost of on-chain money, potentially leading to collateral withdrawal from the Ethereum network.
Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov also expressed concerns about EIP-8363, stating that it could make returns unpredictable or uneconomical if implemented. He warned that this outcome could reduce participation and weaken the network.
