Sharplink's Aggressive Staking Push Amid Ongoing Losses Raises Concerns
Sharplink, Inc., a crypto-focused capital markets platform, has been facing significant losses despite its efforts to parlay its large Ethereum (ETH) treasury into a differentiated business.
In August 2026, Sharplink reported second-quarter revenue of $11.53 million and a net loss of about $394.27 million. To address this issue, the company committed $200 million of its ETH treasury to Lido's liquid staking protocol and launched the Galaxy Sharplink Onchain Yield Fund, LP with $125 million in capital.
This move is expected to turn a static balance sheet item into an institutionally managed onchain portfolio. However, it also heightens key risks such as dependence on Ethereum infrastructure, execution risk in complex yield strategies, and limited room for error given persistent unprofitability.
