SharpLink's DeFi Plans Tied to Ethereum Yield Compression
Ethereum's native yield is headed toward zero due to EIP-8363, a proposal that adjusts the burn factor as staked ETH grows. According to the protocol, once staking reaches 60.25 million ETH, the arithmetic stops rewarding anyone, with net consensus yield landing at zero.
Currently, only 41.18 million ETH is staked out of a total supply of 120.68 million ETH, putting the staking ratio at approximately 34.13%. However, EIP-8363 has already started to compress consensus rewards during the climb.
This means that native issuance's share of returns will be reduced under the proposal, shifting the burden onto execution income, strategy choices, and risk management for yield generators such as SharpLink.
