Sheriffs' Association Drops Opposition to CLARITY Act Ahead of Senate Vote
The National Sheriffs' Association has reversed its stance on the CLARITY Act, a landmark U.S. cryptocurrency market-structure bill.
This shift removes one of the law-enforcement objections that had complicated the bill's path through the Senate, where a vote is expected later this month.

The CLARITY Act aims to set a federal framework for digital assets, and its passage has been debated in Washington. While other law-enforcement groups have put their weight behind the proposal, the National Sheriffs' Association had expressed concerns that it could make it harder for law enforcement to prosecute illicit finance.
The association's letter to lawmakers said: 'Given the complexity of the legislation and the number of important details that remain under consideration, the NSA is changing its position on the CLARITY Act to neutral.'
