SHIB Community Burns Over 588M Tokens in August, Exchanges Join Top Burners

The Shiba Inu community continued to reduce its circulating supply in August 2026 by burning over 588 million tokens. According to data from Shibburn, a total of 588,207,327 SHIB were burned throughout the month.

This marks a significant decline from July's burn figure of 3.24 billion SHIB, which saw the monthly burn rate soar by 1,395%. August's burn rate declined by 6.14% compared to the previous month.

The largest identified SHIB burner in August was WoofSwap V3, which sent 194 million SHIB to the burn address across 17 transactions. Two unknown wallets also contributed significantly to the month's total burns, with one transferring 107.39 million SHIB and another sending 40 million SHIB.

Cryptocurrency exchanges CEX.IO, Robinhood, and Coinbase were among the top SHIB burners in August. These platforms transferred a combined total of over 120 million SHIB to the dead wallet throughout the month.
