Shiba Inu Enters Regulated Japanese Market as Laser Digital Japan Secures Approval
Nomura-backed Laser Digital Japan has made history by becoming one of the first Japanese crypto exchanges to be approved by the Financial Services Agency (FSA).
The exchange, which was supported by a four-year registration process, will support six digital assets including Shiba Inu, Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. The inclusion of Shiba Inu is notable as it has been added to the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association’s “Green List,” allowing for a simplified process once an exchange is licensed.
The approval marks a significant milestone for the local industry as it ends a four-year stretch in which Japanese regulators issued no new crypto exchange licenses. Laser Digital Japan plans to provide wholesale liquidity to existing local platforms before expanding access to corporations and investment funds, positioning itself to serve institutional rather than retail clients.
For Shiba Inu, this move marks its entry into a regulated institutional channel in a major Asian market, moving beyond pure retail meme status. The official Shiba Inu account described the development as a new milestone and another step in the token’s global reach.
