Shiba Inu Gains Japan Access But No SHIB ETF Yet
Japan's crypto market has strengthened Shiba Inu's position in the country after its parliament passed legislation on July 15, which brings crypto assets closer to the regulatory system used for financial products. The law, which was promulgated on July 23, provides a possible legal foundation for regulated crypto funds.
However, despite the new framework, no regulator or asset manager has filed for or approved a Japanese Shiba Inu exchange-traded fund (ETF). An ETF requires detailed regulations, an eligible structure, an asset manager, an exchange listing process, and regulatory clearance, none of which have been announced for SHIB.
Shiba Inu does appear on the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association's official Green List, which identifies crypto assets widely handled by Japanese members. The list has nine member companies handling SHIB, but Green List inclusion does not create automatic ETF eligibility.
